Project info

Alares designed the air handler replacements for the Lebanon VA Medical Center. Alares conducted extensive site investigations for preparing accurate designs for the air handler replacements.

One of the challenges for this project was the lack of as-built documents. Alares conducted several in-depth investigations to develop accurate existing conditions of piping and systems. During these investigations we identified several heating and cooling issues that were not known. One example was the facility was experiencing heating and cooling issues with a geothermal system for several buildings. Alares conducted a detailed evaluation of the system and identified several issues with the systems such valves, sequence of operations and improper ducting. We designed upgrades to help improve system operations and minimize the facility calls for heating and cooling issues. The client noted that our investigation efforts exceeded what he was used to from other firms.
This extra investigation work also minimized construction issues and general contractor change order requests during the construction phase.
In addition, we designed four air handler upgrades for facility buildings. We ensured the new equipment satisfied VA guidelines and applicable codes. The design services included site investigation, design development, preliminary drawings, construction drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and construction period services.
