Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Alares Engineering is an architecture and engineering firm that primarily serves healthcare areas of specialty include architecture, HVAC design, structural, and commissioning. Immediate need for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer which requires knowledge of electrical systems including hospital clinics and laboratories. The applicant should be able to take ownership of assignments and perform well both independently and as part of the project team. The ideal candidate would have a strong working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, and would have the following responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • • Develop electrical design drawings during SD and DD phases.
  • • Edit specifications to reflect the project requirements.
  • • Coordinate with other disciplines (Mechanical, arch, structural, etc.) for all HVAC details.
  • • Respond to RFI’s for the project, and accurately review submittals.
  • • Understand work planning and manage the design process
  • • Understand the proper scope of SD, DD, CD level documents and deliver appropriate documentation.

Requirements:

  • • BS degree in engineering
  • • Professional Engineer license

Senior Mechanical Engineer

The position requires knowledge of HVAC systems including hospital clinics and laboratories. The applicant should be able to take ownership of assignments and perform well both independently and as part of the project team. The ideal candidate would have a strong working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, and would have the following responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop equipment room sizes during SD and DD phases;
  • Edit specifications to reflect the project requirements;
  • Develop air and water flows;
  • Understand fan and pump curves to properly select equipment for application;
  • Use the psychrometric chart properly for any HVAC system;
  • Meet with vendors to determine specification requirements for application.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines (mepfp, arch, struct, etc) for all HVAC details
  • Respond to RFI’s for the project, and accurately review submittals;
  • Understand work planning and manage the design process to the available hours in the work plan;
  • Understand the proper scope of SD, DD, CD level documents and deliver appropriate documentation;
  • Modify sequences of operations for AHU’s, CHW and HW systems;
  • Understand both constant and variable flow systems, and properly applies equipment
  • Meets with contractors during the bid phase to review the design details;
  • Performs field verification and take-offs of existing systems for renovation projects.
  • Profession Engineer License in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience in designing Healthcare, Commercial, Higher Education or Laboratory projects.
  • Excellent Organizational and Communication skills.

Project Manager/ Project Architect

We are seeking a Project Manager / Project Architect in our Quincy office. As a Project Manager, you will utilize your skills as an architect as well as manage design projects from concept design through construction period services applying your knowledge of architectural design, zoning and building codes, building systems and materials.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • • Responsible for stamping and sealing bid documents
  • • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and ADA requirements
  • • Coordinate the layout, design, drafting, and specifications
  • • Mentor junior staff
  • • Work collaboratively in a cross-discipline environment to produce integrated project documents, and insure integrated design approaches & solutions

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years relevant professional experience for buildings-related design projects
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture
  • Registered Architect (RA) Licensed Architect and NCARB Certificate holder
  • Experience managing a team of design professionals, including monitoring work performance and driving professional development
  • Understanding work flow and documentation for BIM (REVIT)
  • Advanced knowledge of sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelines
  • Experience in coordination with engineering disciplines (M/E/P/FP/S) on the design for sensitively inserting new systems in existing buildings
  • Requires sound knowledge of basic code principles
  • Ability to communicate clearly with excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lead others
